Congratulations! You’ve just said "I do." You’ve just said yes to the best relationship
that you will ever have. You have given
your life to Christ. Now what?
Have you ever felt confused about how to conduct a
relationship with God? Even more than
that, a relationship with a God who is Spirit?
The answer is simple.
God doesn’t make anything confusing (we do not serve a God of
confusion). Take a peak at this.
25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the
church and gave himself up for her, ~Ephesians 5:25
Now what do you think? A relationship with God is what
it implies, a relationship. It requires
many of the things that our earthly relationships do but yields a much higher,
holier and powerful result.
I was introduced to Christ from the time that I was
born, but nothing was ever forced. I was
able to take my time and fall in love with Him.
Just like earthly relationships, everything is better when it flows
naturally.
Unlike earthly relationships however, our relationship
with God deserves and requires a much higher level of reverence.
36 “Teacher,
which is the great commandment in the law?”
37 “ Jesus said
to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[a]
~Matthew 22:36-37
As you can see,
God does command us to do certain things, still not by force. The key is love. Sidenote: I’m so glad we serve a God of
love. When we fall in love with God we
get to know Him on a more intimate level and realize that He is truly worthy
and deserving of our praise. Our willingness
to obey Him comes out of our love for Him.
In fact, most of the people encouraging us to praise God in the Bible
are those who truly knew Him, experienced Him, and tasted and saw that He is
good.
O Lord, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth! ~Psalm 8:9
How excellent is Your name in all the earth! ~Psalm 8:9
David wrote this
Psalm after he slayed Goliath, a giant who threatened to take over his
homeland and threatened to make his people servants. If you randomly flip to the middle of your
Bible, you’ll probably find yourself in the book of Psalm. It’s a long book. David wrote most of the book.
Each Psalm is a
praise to God and/or a cry for His help.
The reason why David praised God so much is because he had a close relationship with him. The types of situations he was in caused him
to turn to the best avenue he could for help, God, and God came through for
him. It was the beginning of many great
things that God did in David’s life.
If I had to
fight a giant I would definitely be in God’s face a lot more. I have actually
had to face some giants in my lifetime, and God came through for me too.
The bottom line is, it all starts when you choose to
fall in love. Why not make it official
by saying I do?
Yayy! I am so excited that you posted again. Great post. -Another "unashamed introvertish girl" :)
